Crazy…I’m not sure what this is susposed to mean. He suggests that open source software has the capability of being sabotaged by foreign developers. Huh? Is this kinda like Microsoft having to hand over the source code of Windows to China to examin it for holes? I’m not really sure, but Dan O’Dowd (CEO of Green Hills Software) seems to think. Does anybody remember of SELinux, published by the NSA?

A proprietary application which links against your modified version of
GTK (licensed under the GPL) could not be distributed at all. It would
violate the license of the code taken from QT, and the license of GTK
(GPL, since you converted it via LGPL’s clause 3 in order to link in the
QT code).

could have two different versions of Gtk…one patched, one not. Or, I could just patch each app individually.</http>

It’s my new blogging software, Wordpress! It seems really nice and seems to work well. Timezones even seem work…no I wasn’t up at 3:30AM posting like some of my entries with bBlog stated!. Now, I just need to make myself a template and write something!
Enjoy!

I’ve been learning how to program in KDE with C++ lately. KDE has a very nice API (much nicer than GTK+/Gnome, I think, anyway). C++ is also a nice language, if you can learn it. All the C++ books at the library are checked out, so I’ve been learning by example and pestering Brian when I need help (hehe, sorry Brian).

I’ve got myself some new hosting for my collection of websites–D4Hosting (tell ‘em Taj sent ‘ya, I’ve got a reputation around there!). They seem pretty good and very flexable, easy to work with for people with special requirements, etc. Hopefully I’ll get the SSL thing straightened out soon.

‘Neways, have fun and stay tuned!

Sanity writes “On May 18th, by a thin majority, the European Council of Ministers voted in favor of throwing out the European Parliament’s efforts to keep software patents out of Europe. According to an FFII press release, the Dutch Parliament yesterday voted to change its Minister’s vote, which was in favor, to an abstension. This is an unprecidented move and a great coup for those fighting against software patents, never before has a country reversed a vote in this manner. While this is not sufficient to reverse the decision of the Council of Ministers, it does pave the way for other countries, many of which were pressured into an affirmative vote, to do the same. Now is the time for citizens of the EU to put pressure on their national governments to follow the Dutch lead.”

Yay! Hopefully the rest of the EU will follow suite.
