An “insectary” is a place for rearing insects, be it outdoors in the field, or a commercial facility for providing packaged beneficial species. An “insectary species” is a plant that provides food, pollen, or shelter that enhances fecundity for insects, especially beneficial kinds. Many species that we sell will serve an insectary function when allowed to bloom. This mix is intended as a perennial backbone for a hedge or border that will serve as seasonal windbreak and long term oasis for bug ranching and bird feeding. Add other ornamental perennials and annuals to give allies a year-round wild garden. One ounce plants approximately 1000 row feet.
