WOW!!! We have an extreme wild perilla mint problem on our homestead so I ordered Giant Goosefoot seeds with the idea of eventually choking out the perilla (which is poisonous for sheep) with an edible nutritious weed. It's starting to really work! Giant Goosefoot grows to towering 6' to 8' plants, we cook the leaves in place of spinach (it's particularly tasty when paired with feta cheese in baked Greek dishes, or in wilted salads with bacon and a tangy yogurt dressing, or any recipe that calls for cooked spinach), and it is slowly spreading everywhere outside. The larger Goosefoot plants have a root bulb about the size of a honeydew melon to break up rocky soil, it is self-seeding and cold hardy, we left some of them in a 32" long planter liner outside last winter with temperatures down to -7F, and that tray of Goosefeet came the first thing to sprout this spring. Fantastic, edible, and it can't kill our sheep like the perilla can. BRAVO!
