Datura metel This genus loves the heat, and we are just barely warm enough west of the Cascades to glimpse its potential. This species of Datura is native to south China (some say India), where it gets over 5' tall. For us, maybe 2' tall was the norm, and it seemed to attract more than the normal attention from flea and cucumber beetles. Maybe they like the bitter toxic alkaloids the genus is known for.
