NEW FOR 2026! This is a complex population created over the last 10 years by interbreeding white, blue, tan, black, and benne sesame types from sources in a range of climates. After 3 years of intermixing, my friend Hannah Traggis began selecting for tall, branching, vigorous plants without regard for seed color. We enjoyed growing this tropical crop for the first time last year, and loved watching the bumble bees stuffed into the foxglove-like flowers. But tasting the freshly toasted seeds from homegrown sesame—what a revelation! It was like I had never really tasted sesame before. I’m not sure if this was due to the freshness of the product, or the genetic complexity of the mix. Either way, this sesame is a worthy addition to your food and flower gardens.
